Polypropylene is the most versatile polymer. It is used for the production of solid, flexible, lightweight and heat resistant products. Polypropylene for fiber can also be used in both the industrial and agricultural sectors. It is used for the production of products such as:

  • Plastic parts
  • Floor coverings
  • Packing
  • Office Supplies
  • Household appliances
  • Laboratory equipment

There are three main types of polypropylene. Usage depends on characteristics and costs:

– Homopolymer PP (Intended for general use, it has a diverse application)

– Block Copolymer PP (They contain 5-15% ethylene. They have improved resistance to impacts at temperatures below -20oC. Their resistance can be further increased by adding different types of additives, usually elastomers)

– Random copolymer PP (They contain monomer units without a typical pattern along the polypropylene molecule chain. Such polymers that typically contain 1-7% ethylene have application in areas where a lower melting point is required, greater flexibility and increased transparency)

It comes in the form of a white or transparent powder or granule, but it can also be painted with pigments. Polypropylene is one of the most widely used materials for the production of plastic items. Polymerization is obtained at relatively low temperatures, whereby a colorless or slightly colored polypropylene is obtained. Depending on the catalyst used and the conditions during polymerisation, different properties of the obtained polypropylene can be obtained.

Homopolimer PP

Namenjen opštoj upotrebi, ima raznoliku primenu.

Blok Kopolimeri PP

Sadrže 5-15% etilena. Imaju poboljšanu otpornost na uticaje na temperaturama nižim od -20oC. Njihova otpornost se može dodatno povećati dodavanjem različitih vrsta aditiva, obično – elastomera.

Random Kopolimeri PP

Sadrže monomerne jedinice bez tipskog rasporeda duž lanca molekula polipropilena. Takvi polimeri koji obično sadrže 1-7% etilena imaju primenu u oblastima gde se zahteva niža tačka topljenja, veća fleksibilnost I povećana prozračnost.
